Charlotte and Christien are never short of questions. So when their grandmother whispers of an old wood called Compiegne, a place said to hide the secret of where their herd truly came from, the twins cannot let it go. Marking each tree as they pass so they can find their way home, they follow strange symbols carved in ancient stone, trace a stream that seems to sing, edge past a thundering waterfall, and step into a crystal-lit cave shaped like their own constellation. What waits inside could reunite families that were split apart generations ago.
